Kicking off the year the YCW way - 26th Day in 2026 and we showed up with purpose 🔥
Our First Nations & Multicultural Youth Festival here in Adelaide was more than just a good time, it was a space to connect, listen, and grow together. Especially partnering up with our friends from the City of Onkaparinga Council at Base 10.
Being our fourth YCW Australia Day here in Adelaide, we’re so honoured to continue walking alongside Indigenous young people, and to learn from and journey with Kaurna Elder, Mr John Lochowiak. This space wouldn’t be what it is without that guidance, wisdom, and relationship.
Entirely run by our incredible committee made up of young people volunteering from local and neighbouring communities, ran a day featuring powerful yarns with our First Nations brothers, sisters and Elders, to interactive workshops and honest Q&As, the day was filled with moments that challenged us, grounded us, and reminded us of the beauty of culture and community. In between it all, young people showed up fully, sharing who they are and embracing one another in unity and respect.
On a day like January 26th, this hits deeper. It’s about reclaiming the day, not ignoring its history, but redefining what it means for us moving forward together. A day to stand in solidarity, to listen, to learn, and to walk side by side in unity and harmony, honouring the richness and truth of First Nations culture in our country.
As Harmony Week wraps up, we’re still holding onto these moments, the joy, the depth, and the reminder that when we come together, something powerful happens ✨
