YCW Adelaide, many of whom are from refugee backgrounds, participated in the Palm Sunday Rally to stand in solidarity with young refugees and asylum seekers, to advocate for basic human rights and human dignity.

In response to the situation faced by new migrants and refugees in Western Sydney, where young refugees struggle to obtain basic needs such as food, toiletries, soap, etc., Parramatta YCW leaders started coming together with friends and family for a BBQ with a food donation which was then disturbed to families in need.

In response to the negative media campaign against young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds from South Sudan, Melbourne YCW organised an ‘identity and belonging’ forum for up to 50 young people. The forum generated dialogue that built unity and connections within the community despite negative media representation.
