Young people have been some of the hardest hit by the pandemic. Bosses have let casuals go with a moment’s notice and Scott Morrison excluded 1000s of young workers from JobKeeper. Meanwhile, other young workers were thrown into the frontline of the pandemic, from the supermarket checkout to the streets they traversed to deliver our takeaway food, in spite of low wages, health and safety concerns and insecure work.
We deserve wage certainty week to week and month to month; not an endless scramble for hours across multiple jobs. Our elected leaders should be focused on creating the secure jobs we as workers need; not bowing to greedy business lobbyists trying to press their advantage during a recession.
Scott Morrison wants to undermine our hard work, and let bosses keep young workers in low paid, insecure jobs.
